Whittemore Library

First and foremost I apologize for it's been long time since my last post.

I invite my clients, friends and newcomers to view my work  that will be showing through the month of August at the Whittmore Library during regular library hours. The library is located in Naugatuck Connecticut.

 Here's a link to the library  http://www.whittemorelibrary.org/

The paintings consist primarily of my local landscapes along with some paintings of the Narragansett RI shoreline, still life,  and studio paintings depicting wildlife.

I would like to thank the staff at the Whittemore for inviting me to exhibit and with the hanging of the artwork. Hope to see you there.

2011 winding down

2011 has been another active year for me. Some of my more recent work has been in the studio instead of in the field. I'm still totally involved with the whole plein air scene its just that studio work took priorty. Below are some examples of my 2011 work

Today's Artist Quote

It's on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly.

Quote for today

“It is only too true that a lot of artists are mentally ill- it's a life which, to put it mildly, makes one an outsider. I'm all right when I completely immerse myself in work, but I'll always remain half crazy.”
_Vincent Van Gogh

Quote for today

“No artist is ahead of his time. He 'is' his time; it is just that others are behind the times.”

Quote for today

“It is through Art and through Art only that we can realize our perfection; through Art and Art only that we can shield ourselves from the sordid perils of actual existence”
_Oscar Wilde

About me

I have has always had a deep respect and love for the natural world. Growing up in Connecticut I spent a great deal of my time outside in the woods hiking, fishing and exploring Connecticut's watershed areas. To be able to document these moments is an priviledge and to draw from nature in this fashion fuels a lifetime of inspiration for me.

Early on, capturing peoples likenesses with pastels came to me with relative ease. I began to except commisions drawing/painting portraits of people and dogs. It became apparent that this “natural” ability should be developed further to a professional level. Studying art at The Paier College of Art is where I began to develop the skills which I draw upon today.

I've been painting “en plein air” for a few years now. Painting "en plein air" simply means to paint outside. As I'm sure other painters will attest, this way of painting is as both exhilerating as it is addicting. Just by the nature of painting outside, dealing with the ever changing conditions forces a spontanaity into my paintings. This as a positive force that is also being reflected in my studio work.

Currently excepting commissions. I can be reached at 203.732.3106
